Why study at Athlone

Athlone is a vibrant, historic riverside university town situated at the geographical heart of Ireland on the majestic River Shannon and Lough Ree in County Westmeath. Renowned for its 12th-century Athlone Castle, peaceful natural surroundings, and booming biopharma and software industry cluster (Ericsson, Teleflex, Alkermes), Athlone is home to the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS - Athlone Campus, Ireland's premier dynamic Technological University, renowned for its Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Faculty of Science and Health, and School of Business). Degrees in Software Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Cloud Computing, Nursing, and Digital Marketing are taught 100% in English with strong industrial placements and high graduate employability. International students benefit from substantially lower accommodation and living costs compared to Dublin (50% cheaper), a warm and welcoming community, and Ireland's attractive 2-year Third Level Graduate Scheme (post-study work visa).
