Why study at Braunschweig

Braunschweig (Brunswick) is Europe's #1 research-intensive region for R&D investment and the mobility/aerospace engineering heartland of Lower Saxony, Germany, situated just 35 minutes east of Hannover and near the Volkswagen global headquarters in Wolfsburg. Known as the 'City of Science' with the highest density of scientists in Europe, Braunschweig is home to Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig - founded in 1745, Germany's oldest Institute of Technology and an elite member of TU9 alliance of leading German universities of technology), renowned for its world-leading research in Automotive and Future Mobility, Aerospace Engineering (featuring its own Research Airport Forschungsflughafen and German Aerospace Center DLR hub), Computer Science and Quantum Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Pharmacy and Biotechnology, alongside Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB - national metrology institute operating Germany's atomic clocks). Education is 100% TUITION-FREE (€0 tuition) for all international students. Students benefit from the nationwide Deutschlandticket transit pass, subsidized student dining (Mensa), unbeatable engineering career connections with Volkswagen, Siemens, and DLR, and Germany's 18-month post-study work visa.

Fees

Tuition fees in Braunschweig at TU Braunschweig and public universities are €0 (100% tuition-free for all international students, both EU and non-EU). Students only pay a statutory semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) of approximately €380 per semester, which includes the nationwide Deutschlandticket student travel pass. Subsidized student dormitories managed by Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen cost between €250 and €420 per month (inclusive of heating, water, electricity, and high-speed Wi-Fi), while private flat shares (WGs) and private studio apartments in Östliches Ringgebiet, Innenstadt, and Siegfriedviertel range from €380 to €680 per month.
