Admission requirements
Secondary School Certificate & Entrance Examination / Interview
Certified secondary school graduation certificate and official transcripts with certified English translation; for medical admission at Semmelweis University, passing the mandatory written and oral entrance exam in Biology and Chemistry (or Medical Physics); for engineering/business, academic review and mathematics evaluation.
English Language Proficiency (IELTS / TOEFL or Entrance Test)
IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0–6.5+), TOEFL iBT (80+), or demonstrated proficiency during the university entrance oral interview and written examination.
Student Visa
International non-EU students require a Hungarian D-Type Student Visa for Residence Permit purposes (Tartózkodási Engedély tanulmányi célból). Upon academic admission and tuition fee deposit (or Stipendium Hungaricum award letter), the university issues the official Letter of Acceptance. Applicants apply via the Hungarian Embassy / Consulate / VFS Global with proof of financial accommodation, health insurance, and bank statement. Upon arrival in Budapest, students collect their official European Schengen Residence Permit Card from the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (OIF).
