Admission requirements

  • Secondary School Certificate & USAf Matriculation Exemption

    Certified secondary school graduation certificate and official transcripts with certified English translation; international applicants must obtain a Foreign Matriculation Exemption Certificate from Universities South Africa (USAf mb.usaf.ac.za) certifying equivalent university entrance qualifications (A-Levels, IB, SAT, or National High School Certificate).

  • English Language Proficiency (IELTS Academic / TOEFL iBT / NBT)

    IELTS Academic (minimum 6.5 with no band below 6.0; 7.0 for Medicine and Law), TOEFL iBT (88+), or passing the South African National Benchmark Tests (NBT).

Student Visa

International non-South African students require a South African Study Visa (Section 13 of the Immigration Act). Key requirements include: an official Letter of Acceptance from the university (UCT), proof of financial resources to cover tuition and living costs (bank statements), South African Medical Aid scheme coverage (mandatory registered local medical scheme such as Momentum or CompCare for the full duration of study), a South African Police Clearance certificate / home country police clearance, and medical & radiological reports (BI-806 & BI-811).
