Why study at Edmonton

Edmonton is the vibrant capital city of Alberta and Canada's northern energy, artificial intelligence, and healthcare capital, located along the North Saskatchewan River Valley (the largest continuous stretch of urban parkland in North America). Celebrated for West Edmonton Mall (one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in the world), the historic High Level Bridge and Walterdale Bridge, 325 days of bright sunshine per year, and 0% provincial sales tax in Alberta (only 5% federal GST applies, resulting in Canada's lowest consumer tax burden), Edmonton is home to one of Canada's elite research universities: the University of Alberta (UAlberta - founded in 1908, prestigious member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities, ranked #96 globally in the QS World University Rankings and top 4 in Canada with over 44,000 students and $550+ million in annual sponsored research). UAlberta is globally renowned for Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (ranked #3 in the world for AI research with Amii - the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute and DeepMind co-founders), Faculty of Engineering (world leader in Petroleum, Chemical, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering), Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (associated with Nobel laureate Michael Houghton for Hepatitis C discovery), and Alberta School of Business (Triple Crown / AACSB accredited), alongside MacEwan University (acclaimed for Nursing, Business, and Performing Arts in Downtown Edmonton), the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT - polytechnic leader in engineering technology and applied sciences), and Concordia University of Edmonton. Degrees are taught 100% in English within the Canadian higher education system. International students benefit from lower cost of living and rent than Vancouver/Toronto, 0% provincial sales tax, direct access to Alberta's high-paying engineering and tech jobs, Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP up to 3 years), and streamlined permanent residency through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
