Why study at Erlangen & Nuremberg
The Erlangen–Nuremberg metropolitan region (European Metropolitan Region Nuremberg) in northern Bavaria is Germany's powerhouse of medical technology, advanced engineering, and artificial intelligence ('Medical Valley' of Europe and birthplace of the MP3 audio format at Fraunhofer IIS). Erlangen is the world headquarters of Siemens Healthineers and Siemens AG energy divisions, while Nuremberg is famous for the imperial Kaiserburg Castle, historic Hauptmarkt, and world-renowned Christmas Market (Christkindlesmarkt). The twin-city hub is home to one of Germany's largest and most innovative research universities: Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU - founded in 1743 by Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, ranked #1 in Germany and #14 globally in the Reuters Top 100 World's Most Innovative Universities with over 39,000 students). FAU is world-renowned for the Faculty of Engineering (Technischen Fakultät in Erlangen - world leader in Materials Science, Chemical & Bioengineering, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence), Faculty of Medicine (Universitätsklinikum Erlangen - top European medical center with pioneering immunotherapy and robotics surgery), and the School of Business, Economics and Society (WiSo in Nuremberg - one of Germany's most prestigious business schools, founding member of German management education), alongside Nuremberg Institute of Technology (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm - Ohm). Higher education at FAU is 100% TUITION-FREE (€0 tuition) for all international students. Students benefit from the nationwide Deutschlandticket transit pass, direct research ties to Siemens and Fraunhofer, vibrant Bavarian student life, and Germany's 18-month post-study work visa.
