Why study at Flint

Flint is the historic automotive and STEM engineering capital of eastern Michigan on the Flint River (famous as the birthplace of General Motors and Buick), situated 60 miles northwest of Detroit and 50 miles northeast of Lansing. Flint is celebrated for the Flint Cultural Center (Sloan Museum of Discovery, Longley Planetarium, Flint Institute of Arts - the 2nd largest art museum in Michigan) and has transformed into a major higher education engineering and health science hub. The city is home to two nationally acclaimed institutions: the University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint - founded in 1956, prominent constituent campus of the world-famous University of Michigan system, granting official prestigious University of Michigan degrees, celebrated for the College of Innovation & Technology CIT, School of Management - AACSB accredited, College of Health Sciences - Doctor of Physical Therapy DPT and Nurse Anesthesia, and Computer Science & Cybersecurity), alongside Kettering University (formerly the General Motors Institute GMI - founded in 1919, ranked #1 in the United States for Co-op Education and #1 for Automotive and Mechanical Engineering by US News & World Report and The Economist for highest return on investment ROI in Michigan). At Kettering, 100% of undergraduate students participate in alternating paid corporate co-op work terms earning $40,000–$75,000 throughout their degree at top companies including GM, Ford, Tesla, Stellantis, Boeing, and Apple. Degrees are taught 100% in English with prestigious US accreditations. International students benefit from prestigious University of Michigan degrees, Kettering's paid co-op earnings, exceptionally low living costs, and direct US F-1 / I-20 Student Visa support with 3-year STEM OPT work extensions.
