Admission requirements

  • Higher Education Entrance Qualification (HZB / Studienkolleg / uni-assist)

    Recognized secondary school certificate evaluated through uni-assist (VPD / Direct Admission) or completion of Studienkolleg Hamburg (Feststellungsprüfung FSP) for non-equivalent foreign high school diplomas, or Bachelor's degree with transcripts for Master's entry.

Student Visa

International non-EU students require a German National Student Visa (Visum zu Studienzwecken - Category D). Key requirements include: an official Letter of Admission (Zulassungsbescheid) from Universität Hamburg, TUHH, or HAW, proof of financial resources through an approved German Blocked Account (Sperrkonto with approx. €11,904/year or €992/month via Expatrio, Coracle, or Fintiba), and statutory German student health insurance (Techniker Krankenkasse TK, Barmer, or AOK). Upon arrival in Hamburg, students register at the Kundenzentrum (Hamburg Service) and obtain their German Residence Permit (Aufenthaltstitel §16b) at the Hamburg Welcome Center / Ausländerbehörde.
