Admission requirements

  • Academic Qualifications & USAf Matriculation Exemption (Wits/UJ Portal)

    Certified secondary school graduation certificate (High School Diploma, IB, GCE A-Levels, or equivalent) evaluated through Universities South Africa (USAf Matriculation Exemption) with official transcripts translated into English, submitted via Wits or UJ online portal (high points/APS required for Engineering, Computer Science, and Medicine).

  • English Language Proficiency (IELTS Academic / TOEFL iBT / National Senior Certificate English)

    IELTS Academic (minimum 6.5 with no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT (minimum 85+), or official proof of previous secondary/university education completed in English.

Student Visa

International students require a South African Study Visa issued by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) via VFS Global. Key requirements include: an official Letter of Provisional Admission / Acceptance from Wits University or University of Johannesburg, proof of financial resources (bank statements for the past 3 months covering tuition and living expenses), South African registered medical cover / medical aid scheme (such as Momentum, Discovery Health, or CompCare for the full duration of studies), police clearance certificate, and medical / radiological reports. The study visa is valid for the duration of the degree program.
