Lowell is a historic, innovative university metropolis in northeastern Massachusetts along the Merrimack and Concord rivers within the Greater Boston metropolitan area, situated just 28 miles northwest of Downtown Boston and Cambridge (connected directly via the MBTA Commuter Rail in 40 minutes). Celebrated as the 'Cradle of the American Industrial Revolution' and home to the Lowell National Historical Park (featuring restored 19th-century textile mills and canal systems), vibrant cultural festivals (Lowell Folk Festival), and booming high-tech, medical device, advanced manufacturing, and robotics corridors along the Route 128 / I-495 technology belt.
