Why study at Madrid
Madrid is the majestic capital and economic, political, and cultural heart of Spain and the European Union's 2nd largest metropolis, situated in the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula along the Manzanares River. Celebrated for its world-class art triangle (Prado Museum, Reina Sofía, Thyssen-Bornemisza), UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Paseo del Prado and Retiro Park, Gran Vía, Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real), passionate football culture (Real Madrid / Santiago Bernabéu Stadium), and unmatched vibrant lifestyle with lively tapas bars and rooftop terraces. Madrid is Spain's undisputed higher education powerhouse, home to the country's most elite universities: Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM - founded in 1293, one of the world's oldest universities, ranked in the World Top 165 in the QS World University Rankings with 75,000+ students on the massive Ciudad Universitaria campus, boasting 7 Nobel Prize laureates), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM - ranked in the World Top 200, alma mater of King Felipe VI), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M - top-ranked modern university for Economics, Business, Computer Science, and Engineering with 70%+ of courses taught in English), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM - Spain's #1 engineering and architecture polytechnic), and IE University / IE Business School (Triple Crown accredited, ranked among the world's top 10 business schools and #1 in Europe for Entrepreneurship with its iconic IE Tower vertical campus), alongside Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE/ICAI), and Universidad de Alcalá (UAH). Degrees are taught in Spanish and English with European Higher Education Area (ECTS) accreditations. International students benefit from Madrid's highly affordable public university tuition fees, the EU's largest Spanish-speaking corporate job market, and Spain's 1-year post-study job seeker residence authorization.
