Why study at Málaga
Málaga is a vibrant, sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal metropolis in Andalusia in southern Spain (the capital of the world-famous Costa del Sol and the undisputed tech hub known as the 'Silicon Valley of Southern Europe'), situated along the Mediterranean Sea, located 2 hours south of Madrid by direct high-speed AVE train. Celebrated as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, home to the Moorish Alcazaba fortress and Gibralfaro Castle, Roman Theatre, Centre Pompidou Málaga, spectacular urban beaches (La Malagueta), and an explosive international technology and startup ecosystem (Málaga TechPark / PTA, hosting 650+ tech companies including Google's European Safety Engineering Center GSEC for Cybersecurity, Vodafone's European R&D Innovation Hub, Oracle, Ericsson, and Huawei). Málaga is the home of one of Spain's most innovative public research universities: Universidad de Málaga (UMA - founded in 1972, premier public research university with over 36,000 students on modern campuses in Teatinos and El Ejido). UMA is internationally acclaimed for the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT - leading European center for 5G/6G, IoT, and Cybersecurity), Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSI Informática - AI, Big Data, and Software Development), Faculty of Tourism (leading in smart tourism management), Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, alongside Les Roches Marbella (world top 5 luxury hospitality management school in nearby Marbella). Degrees are taught in Spanish and English with European Higher Education Area (ECTS) accreditations. International students benefit from some of the lowest public university tuition fees in Europe (subsidized by the Andalusian regional government to as low as €12.60 per ECTS credit, approx. €750–€1,000/year for standard progression), exceptional quality of life with 320+ days of sunshine, and Spain's 1-year post-study job seeker residence permit.
