Why study at Maynooth

Maynooth is Ireland's only historic university town, a picturesque, safe, and rapidly expanding higher education and high-tech semiconductor capital situated in County Kildare in the Greater Dublin Area, located just 25 kilometers (30 minutes by direct Iarnród Éireann Commuter Rail) west of Dublin City Centre and Dublin Airport (DUB). Renowned for its unique blend of heritage and cutting-edge innovation, featuring Maynooth Castle (12th-century Geraldines stronghold), Carton House estate, the historic Royal Canal Greenway, and its immediate proximity to the 'Silicon Valley of Ireland' in the Leixlip-Maynooth tech corridor (home to Intel's European Manufacturing Mega-Fab Fab 34 representing a €17B+ advanced semiconductor investment, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Pfizer, and Kerry Group). Maynooth is the home of one of Ireland's fastest-growing, top-ranking research universities: Maynooth University (National University of Ireland, Maynooth / MU - founded in 1795 as St Patrick's College and established as an independent NUI university in 1997, ranked in the World Top 100 Young Universities by Times Higher Education with over 15,000 students across its breathtaking historic 18th-century South Campus and state-of-the-art North Campus). Maynooth University is globally acclaimed for the School of Business (AACSB and AMBA accredited programs in International Business, Marketing, and Accounting), Department of Computer Science (pioneering AI, Data Science, and Software Engineering in partnership with Intel and Microsoft), Department of Electronic Engineering, Hamilton Institute (world-renowned mathematical research), ICARUS Climate Research Centre, and Department of Law and Criminology, alongside St Patrick's Pontifical University. Degrees are taught 100% in English within the Irish and European university system. International students benefit from Ireland's high standard of living, vibrant student community, generous Maynooth International Scholarships (€2,000 to €5,000/year), and the 2-year Irish Third Level Graduate Scheme (Stamp 1G) post-study work visa.
