Why study at Murcia

Murcia is a historic, sun-drenched university and agricultural technology capital in southeastern Spain along the Segura River, located 45 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches of the Costa Cálida and Mar Menor, and 3.5 hours southeast of Madrid. Celebrated for its breathtaking Baroque Cathedral of Murcia (Catedral de Santa María), pedestrianized plazas lined with orange trees (Plaza de las Flores, Plaza del Cardenal Belluga), vibrant Easter Week and Bando de la Huerta spring festivals, and its status as the 'Orchard of Europe' (Europe's leading agritech and food science hub). Murcia is a major European higher education center, home to two premier universities: Universidad de Murcia (UMU - founded in 1272 by King Alfonso X the Wise, premier public research university with over 34,000 students across the historic La Merced campus in the city center and the sprawling Espinardo research campus, renowned for Veterinary Medicine #1 in Spain, Faculty of Medicine, Computer Science, and Chemistry), and UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM - internationally acclaimed as 'The University of Sports' in Europe, hosting Olympic medalists and over 21,000 students on the historic Los Jerónimos Monastery campus). UCAM is globally renowned for its international, English-taught programs including the 6-Year Bachelor of Medicine (MD in English), 5-Year Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS in English), 4-Year Bachelor of Pharmacy, Sports Management, and International Business (BBA). Degrees are taught in Spanish and English with European Higher Education Area (ECTS) accreditations. International students benefit from some of the lowest tuition and living expenses in Western Europe, a welcoming sunny student lifestyle, and Spain's 1-year post-study job seeker residence authorization.
