Why study at Plovdiv
Plovdiv is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe (over 8,000 years of history, older than Rome and Athens) and the vibrant cultural, academic, and industrial powerhouse of south-central Bulgaria, situated along the Maritsa River across seven historic syenite hills, designated the European Capital of Culture in 2019. Celebrated for its breathtaking Ancient Roman Theatre of Philippopolis (still active for open-air concerts and operas), the Roman Stadium, the cobblestone Old Town architectural reserve (famed for National Revival mansions), and the lively Kapana creative arts district. Plovdiv is one of Europe's premier medical education destinations, home to the world-renowned Medical University of Plovdiv (MU-Plovdiv / Medicinski Universitet Plovdiv - established in 1945, premier public medical research university enrolling over 6,000 students from more than 50 countries). Degrees are taught 100% in English. International students benefit from affordable EU tuition fees (€8,000 to €9,000/year), low living costs, state-of-the-art Medical Simulation Training Centre (the largest in Eastern Europe), and Bulgaria's European Union Student Visa.
