Why study at Wichita

Wichita, Kansas (internationally celebrated and trademarked as the 'Air Capital of the World' and ranked among the Top 10 Most Affordable College Cities in the United States) is the largest and most economically vital metropolis in Kansas, situated along the Arkansas River, home to Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT). Globally celebrated for the iconic Keeper of the Plains 44-foot steel sculpture, the historic Old Town entertainment district, Exploration Place science center, Sedgwick County Zoo (one of the largest zoos in the US), and its absolute global dominance in aerospace engineering, aviation manufacturing, advanced materials, and defense (housing massive global manufacturing and engineering centers for Textron Aviation: Cessna & Beechcraft, Spirit AeroSystems, Airbus Americas Engineering, Bombardier Learjet, and Boeing defense suppliers). Wichita is the flagship home of one of America's fastest-growing public research powerhouses: Wichita State University (WSU - founded in 1895, Carnegie R2 research university enrolling over 17,500 students across its innovative 330-acre campus and world-famous 120-acre Innovation Campus). WSU is globally acclaimed for the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR - the largest aviation research R&D institute in the United States with over $200M in annual aerospace research), the College of Engineering (ABET-accredited leader in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, and Biomedical Engineering), the Barton School of Business (AACSB-accredited, housed in the brand-new $60M Wayne and Kay Woolsey Hall), and the College of Applied Studies, alongside Friends University and Newman University. Degrees are taught 100% in English with prestigious HLC and ABET accreditations. International students benefit from the Shocker City and Global Select International Scholarships ($4,800 to $9,600/year tuition reduction), Wichita Transit bus pass, unmatched on-campus paid co-op and internship placements with Airbus and Textron directly on the Innovation Campus, and direct US F-1 / I-20 Student Visa support with 3-year STEM OPT work authorization.
