Valletta (internationally venerated as 'The Fortress City', European Capital of Culture, and a complete UNESCO World Heritage Site) is the sun-kissed, historic capital of the Republic of Malta, situated on a dramatic peninsula between the Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, home to Malta International Airport (MLA). Globally celebrated for the monumental 16th-century bastions built by the Knights of St. John, the magnificent St. John's Co-Cathedral (housing Caravaggio's masterpiece 'The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist'), Upper Barrakka Gardens (overlooking the deepest natural harbor in Europe), Republic Street, and its booming modern economy in iGaming, fintech and blockchain, maritime trade, and digital English-language education.
